Review: Bill Phillips’ The Transformation Solution
For many of you, Bill Phillips will need no introduction. He’s the author of the New York Times’ best seller diet program “Body For Life”, the founder and former CEO of the supplement company EAS, as well as a respected motivational speaker and coach.
His publication, “The Transformation Solution” represents – to my knowledge anyway – his first foray into the digital marketplace. And rest assured, you will not be disappointed.
However, one thing I should point out before discussing this publication in any great depth is…
This is not a traditional diet program.
Sure, there are a couple of chapters dedicated to the mechanics of weight loss – what to eat and how much of it, which exercises to perform and so on, but for the most part, this comprises a relatively small portion of the publication.
So what is the Transformation Solution then, if it’s not a “traditional” diet program?
Good question.
If I had to sum it up in a couple of words, I’d have to say it’s…
“A self help program for people who want to lose weight.”
That’s probably a little unfair given the depth of this publication, but it gives you an idea of where Mr. Phillips is coming from. Let me explain it a little more thoroughly…
In a traditional diet, the focus is on mechanics – eat this, don’t eat that, perform so many minutes of resistance training and so many minutes of cardio, blah, blah, blah.
But in the Transformation Solution, Phillips argues that for some people (not all, of course) overweight is a “symptom.”
In other words…
You can have all the best intentions in the world to start eating right and exercising, but if you don’t address the underlying issues that cause you to overeat in the first place, you’re wasting your time.
Because, for many people, chronic overeating has psychological roots. If you overeat when you’re depressed, unhappy, stressed or what not, you will know what Phillips is talking about here.
So in a nutshell…
… this isn’t a diet so much as an 18-week journey of catharsis, forgiveness, accountability, giving and learning (there are 18 chapters in this publication; each one corresponds to a single week).
And there’s plenty here to dig into; 247 pages worth of material, all supported by a ream of scientific references. Each chapter is also available for download as an MP3, to be played back on your iPod at your leisure. There’s also a success journal, and a ton of other stuff. Here’s a screenshot of the files that come with the program (this doesn’t include the MP3s)…

Is this program for you?
That depends; if you know of Bill Phillips and his reputation, you won’t need to be convinced of the value of this publication. What you need to decide is whether or not overweight is a symptom for you.
If it is, the Transformation Solution is worth a good, long look.
If, on the other hand, all you want is a simple diet program, this is probably not for you.
